Living Roof and Waterfalls for Air Conditioning?!

How cool is this house? I guess that question works both ways. How cool do the waterfalls keep the house and how cool is it that they USE waterfalls to keep the house at a comfortable temperature. I have never seen anything like this house but I have to say, I love it!

Buy First or Sell First?

Posted By: Lindsay Faircloth In:   Posts for Sellers

Selling your home can be a roller coaster at times, especially when you need to purchase another home to live in. This always brings up the question most sellers have. Do you buy a new home first and then sell your current home or do you wait until your home sells and buy one once you have a firm contract?

Residential real estate is gaining stability in the recovering U.S. economy. Consumers, drawn by one of the most attractive buyers’ markets on record marked by historically low interest rates and lower home prices in many areas, are returning to the market to move up, trade down, improve location and otherwise enhance their share of the American Dream. When it comes to home buying, the...

Bidding wars are back!

For a while now, buyers have felt a bit more comfortable in taking their time and knowing that the house they really want won't be going anywhere any time soon. That luxury is now gone. While it's true that the house you see today may be gone tomorrow, that doesn't mean that you should throw caution to the wind and jump into buying a home that you are not 100% sure about. If you think you might fall in love with a house you are going to see, have your agent do a market study before you look at it. Get all of the facts on the market in that, the condition of the home and it's history so you will be able to make an educated decision when it comes to writing an offer.

This article comes to...

Your "green" home can put green in your pocket!

It's no secret that there is a new movement taking place and it involves the real estate market. People are going back to saving money and living within their means. "Green " or eco-friendly homes have come a long way from their once unaffordable, unattainable and, let's face it, not so beautiful features. The U.S. Green Business Council recently reported that single-family homes are responsible for a little over 20% of the country’s greenhouse gas emissions. By living in a green home, people can help reduce the causes of climate change and studies show that more homebuyers are looking to purchase homes that have eco-friendly features.

According to the National Association of Realtors; “...

Costco Home Loans?!

Posted By: Lindsay Faircloth In:   Posts for Buyers
Tags: , , , ,

The other day I went to Costco to pick up a few things but a home mortgage was not on my list. Just because it wasn't on my list doesn't mean that Costco doesn't have it. That's right, you can now shop mortgages through Costco. Okay, okay, at first I thought it was strange. I had my doubts but it seems like Costco has covered their bases and may have a line on something good here. What do you think? The next time you shop at Costco, will you be thinking about purchasing a home?

Bikes and Boats rule!

Bikes and BoatsPhoto provided by: music2fish2 (eric lanning)/Flickr

Getting tired of being held hostage by rising gas prices? One of my favorite movies is The Truman Show. The little town of Seaside, though completely made up, had some really great features to it. People on bikes, walking, jogging, boating, kayaking......everywhere! Everywhere you looked people were using forms of transportation OTHER than fuel powered. It got me thinking, I wonder where you could go if you wanted to be in a place where bicycles and walking ruled the roads and didn't have to fight with heavy traffic to do so.

I came across this article from Mother Nature Network that lays out the 10 best places where bikes and boats...

Hard Work

Hard  work. For most, we have had those days where our workload just never seems to end. Those days where the thanks never comes and the deeds we do go unnoticed. Does that mean we stop? Does it mean that we don't give our best anymore? NO! Giving up or taking the easy road will never bring the results that you desire. Though giving up can seem appealing at the time, for us, here at Prudential, it simply isn't an option. Our clients depend on us to be there for them, no matter what, and that's what we do. I love this quote from Teddy Roosevelt, reminding us who the credit really belongs to.

“The credit belongs to the man who is actually in the arena, whose face is marred by dust and sw...

Just when you got used to Facebook and how it works they are changing it again! Recently Facebook rolled out their new "timeline" feature and gave you the option of keeping your original page or switching to the timeline. Now, as of March 30th, every page will be changed to the new timeline outline. This page is designed to tell a story rather than just share posts and random thoughts as well as focusing in on pictures and links. For some change comes easy and this new timeline will offer a fresh new face to what some feel has become tired. For others, this will be one more challenge in using Facebook. What do you think? Are you excited for the new Facebook timeline or will you miss the o...

Costly Seller Mistakes

Posted By: Lindsay Faircloth In:   Posts for Sellers
Tags: , , ,

Selling your home is a decision that is not made on the spur of the moment, therefore, listing and marketing your home should be well planned and well executed. Here are some costly mistakes that you don't want to make when selling your home.

Listing your home before it's ready. Never put a half finished home on the market. If you are replacing flooring, painting, or in the middle of updating, finish it first! Don't rely on a buyer's imagination or vision to see the finished product. If you want to sell quickly at the best price then your home must be show ready, not half ready. Over improving your home. Improving your home is great, going over board is not. Keep in mind the market th...

Marketing Your Home

Posted By: Lindsay Faircloth In:   Posts for Sellers

We've all heard the term "marketing" and we all have a general idea of what it means, but do you have a firm grasp on what it means to you when you are trying to sell your house? Most people don't. Selling your home is not a decision taken lightly. In a perfect world, a sign would go in the yard, you would get a call that night from someone wanting to see it, next you get an offer, you go to closing and everything happens in 30 days. In reality, that is almost NEVER the case. Let me put myself in your shoes for a minute. Okay, I am now a seller who is ready to list my home. I think I begin calling random offices and have a few agents come out. Now that I have my appointments set I will si...
